I remember when the armies of terracotta warriors were discovered in excavations in China and photos of thousands of clay soldiers captured my imagination.

Even though I never made it to China, I was fortunate enough to see some of those magnificent figures during the last day of the exhibit "Age of Empires-Chinese Art of the Qin and Han Dynasties," at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The crowds were large, yet there was still enough room to enjoy the artifacts that have been amassed here on loan from 32 Museums and archaeological sites from the Republic of China.
Some of the figures were lifesize.

The show was vast and varied. The next best thing to traveling to China to experience the magical kingdom and the treasures of it's past was this exhibit at my favorite museum.
Enjoy!
