Loeb Boathouse Restaurant - Central Park

Central Park is one of the most amazing places anywhere! I used to often go there as a young student at Hunter College, and later in life after work or on weekends for concerts and walks.

One of the best places to stop for a meal, or just a drink at the bar, is the Loeb Boathouse at 72nd Street.
On a rainy Saturday evening, Stelios and I were visiting the Pergamon exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and were looking for a place to have dinner. The Loeb Boathouse Restaurant is only a short walk away from the Museum and the perfect spot for a romantic dinner with lake and skyscraper views.
We snagged a lakeside table and relaxed into a wonderful dinner.

The bread selection is wonderful and it includes pretzels, an iconic Central Park street food.

The tables are set beautifully with crisp white tablecloths and orchids.

We ordered a bottle of Rose from Province...
and an appetizer of octopus, one of the best I ever had.
My dinner was a halibut over roasted vegetables,
 Stelios had the ahi tuna.
Waiters came and went with trays of colorful cocktails
as the evening wore on the the sky colors began to change.

The gondola and the row boats sat idle due to the rainy weather.

 Couples celebrated and took photos

and we completed our perfect dinner with a strawberry rhubarb crisp before dashing back to the Museum for the Manus x Machina special viewing!

Enjoy!

Maria
