One of the beaches close by to our place in Greece is a sand dune beach called Legraina. I love going there early in the morning before the crowds and bobing in the clear waters.
One side of the access to the beach was built into a beachside terrace. Today it is public access and people have fashioned a swim ladder that makes it easier to go in and out of the water.
The water is clear as a bell and it's so refreshing to dip into it.
I was surprised to discover wildlife on my walk and a fresh-water lagoon flowing into the sea. The big bird had an injured wing and I discovered cans of tuna along the lagoon where the bird frequented. I was glad the animal lovers took care of him(her?)
The beach is a long crescent framed by hills. It's always nice to walk along the sand from one end to the other and explore the shoreline.
When you come to Greece, make a trip to Legraina beach, about an hour and a half outside of Athens by bus and on the way to Sounion, Poseidon's Temple. You won't regret it!
Enjoy!
Maria
